Uddannelse er uendelig - Education is Infinite

Vanskeligt jo ældre man bliver.

Wise text on the windows of the coach company Sirius

CFO ask his CEO: What happens if we invest in developing our people, and they leave the company?
CEO answers: What happens if we don't and they stay?

Once you took an education, and then you worked with the same thing all your life. That doesn't work anymore. We have to continue educating ourselves. New technique, new IT, new languages, new ways to live. Only a healthy bit of curiosity and ongoing effort can make us 'hang on' to a fast spinning world. If we don't want to alienate ourselves, we have to spin with it. But it is actually cool to learn new things. The difficulty is to acknowledge that you have to be bad at it at first, before you can become good. That is easy for a child, and it get more and more difficult with age. But it is fantastic when you finally break the code to new learning.

En halv Ironman - Half an Ironman

Imponerende! Respekt!

Det så truende ud -
The weather was quite unstable
Naturlige svømmere og dykkere -
Natural born svimmers and divers
Den tynde linie i baggrunden er over 400 svømmere -
The thin line in the background is more than 400 swimmers

Nogle af de mest trænede deltagere -
Some of the more trained participants

Even if the weather wasn't at it's best today, I have spent most of the day outside. I was with friends in Rødvig, South of Sealand, and saw a lot of people in difference conditions swim, cycling and run Half an Ironman. They swam 1,9 km in the sea, rode their bikes for 90 km, and ran 21 km. Quite ordinary people - and quite extraordinary people. People who had made up their minds to challenge and exceed themselves. I clapped my hands glowing hot! Impressive! Respect!

Metroen - The Metro

Før - Before

Hegnet - the fence

Nu - med det Kgl. Teater i baggrunden
Now - with the Royal Theater in the background

But if you turn your back at it, you can see an old charming detail, and almost forget the rest

I think that it is fantastic that the metro is being expanded. No doubts about that. At the same time I totally understand all the shops and people, who live in the neighborhood, are bothered by the digging, the noise, and the dirt. And I long for the work to finish, too. They are making an effort to make things nicer with all sorts of artistic measures, but it is so ugly now. I am looking forward to seeing The King's New Square re-established ... some time in the future.

Elvis, arbejde og mig - Elvis, The Work, and I

God beskrivelse for chokolade!
Good description for chocolate!

Mon en kamera-rem er spiselig?
Wonder if a camera strap is edible?

Now I have been seriously outdoors today. Had to take a break (the latte) and buy a bit of 'vitamins' (see photo), and is now back, and the feel for going back to the work desk is sneaking in on me again. So together with my little budgie, Elvis, who is in his cage, because the balcony door is open ... and because he is a lousy flyer who bumps into everything ... I am sitting here gaining energy again.

Sct. Hans aften - Sct. Hans Evening

Yesterday it was midsummer night, Sct. Hans Evening as we call it. Here close to the Capital the weather was good, but I didn't participate much, because I have had a 'summer'-flu. No fun, I can tell you. So I didn't participate in most of the outdoor activities, but I was there to sing the midsummer song and take some photos. I expect to get back on my feet in a couple of days. By the way, for those of you interested, read the story about Sct. Hans here.

Rock og/eller klassisk? - Rock and/or Classical Music?

Yesterday I skipped being out in the great summer weather and did something, I don't often do. I went to a chamber music choir concert. The chamber music choir, Pegasus, read more here her (it is in Danish only, but still ...!) held a concert in Saint Jakob's Church in Copenhagen, and I must say that even if I don't know much about chamber music, it was a great experience. Not only the music, but also the choir members who went 'all in' on a very high level. It is not going to be the last time I go. I love the old rock classics, but it doesn't exclude the the old classic classics!

Ommøblering kl. 23! - Rearranging Furniture at 11 pm

After 11 o'clock p.m. is the best time to move furniture around! At least for me. I don't know why it always becomes that way, but all of a sudden it is NOW, and that is always at night. I really got inspired by an article and some photos from the home of our fashion guru No. 1, Uffe Buchard, in the design magazine Bo Bedre, look here. My-my, how is it great to see a beautiful home, which you also can live in. So after having looked at theses photos for a week or so, I totally knew that it didn't look like my home at all. That's ok! But he had done something, which I did to my home yesterday. I removed things. I had a couple of extra small pieces of furniture. A small white chest and a big footstool. The chest contained my sewing machine, thread, needles etc, and the footstool was mainly used to put things on! So away they went. The result was that I could move my sofa away from the window, so it became much more airy. Now I can see my fantastic Nagel-candlestick holders! I did all the heavy work yesterday, and the finishing touch now, and then it was cake-time!

Copenhagen Photo Festival 2014

Yes, it is fake - some of it!

Fuglesang - tja, måske
Fuglesang means birds' singing - well, perhaps

We were lucky with the wonderful weather tonight. 'We' are members of the photo club, where I am a member. It was our end of season night before the summer holidays, and we took the opportunity to look at all the fences in the city hiding all the metro- and other kinds of roadwork. The fences have been made exhibition areas for graffiti and photos, and I was mostly fascinated by the graffiti. So we went a long stretch through an old part Copenhagen, which once was a red light district, but now has become a real hipster area. Lots of life and people in the cafes, and we also stopped in one of them for a beer, a latte, and a single cake - for me!

At bo i en smuk spøgelsesby - To Live in a Beautiful Ghost Town

It is holiday in Denmark today, and like most people I love days off. When the weather is bad, it is natural to grab a good book or watch a movie, but when the sun shines, I have to go. Somewhere. Anywhere. Just out. I get this inner turmoil, which will not go away. I live a municipality 10 km from Copenhagen center. Here we have wonderful green areas, parks, ponds, but when it is holiday or weekend, the city dies. You will not meet a living soul, literally! It becomes a ghost town. So today, when the weather was absolutely wonderful, I had to go. We went to The Botanical Garden and joined a lot of other people and enjoyed the day. After a day like this, it is ok to back to the quiet.

Gadekæret - The City Pond

Five minutes walk from where I live there is a small thatched house by a pond. The church and a small park is right beside. It is so idyllic - so why will anybody want to throw plastic bags and beer cans into the pond?

Skuffende fredagsslik - Disappointing Friday Candy

Here 3 pieces of the red wine gummies have been eaten already

Malaco, this isn't ok. I bought a small bag of candy for quite a price. Candy, which we should have enjoyed tonight. You cannot really see what's in the bag, even thought it is printed on the outside. But the contents do not live op to the picture at all. That is just not good enough. No more Malaco for me.

Facon-ændring? - Shapeshifter?

I weigh not more nor less than last year at this time of year - actually I weigh 2 kilos less! Still there were several of my t-shirts, which didn't look as if they were mine. They didn't fit anymore for some reason. So I have been shopping five new ones. Nothing expensive. Either rather cheap or on sale. So now I have washed and ironed them, and I love to put a nice stack into the wardrobe, which smells wonderfully clean and looks crisp. The old t-shirts? Yes, you know. They have gone to the second hand shop.
