Singles' Day?! Why on Earth? Well, we know. We should buy more. And More. And then comes Black Friday. Guess once, what you are going to do there! Not to mention Christmas...and January sales.
I cannot help thinking, how we CAN go on buying all this stuff? What are we missing?
Studies show, that happiness can be bought. To a certain degree. When we reach a certain level, shopping does not give this rush anymore, and I am sure, that this is a level most of the Western world has reached a long time ago. But we keep buying. Because that is what we are used to. It has become a kind of recreational pastime.
I also become skeptical about, how these prices can fluctuate so much. Why do we then have to pay the high prices in between? Nobody is going to tell me, that there still isn't a profit on the goods. Otherwise they never would be produced or sold. But low prices will always be the result of bad materials and/or bad working conditions and low salaries for those, who produces the goods. It cannot be anything else!
Is that what we want?
This is written, because I feel sick about all the sales 'attacks', which comes rolling in.
Christmas is close, and I will encourage you to buy with care. Buy a little less and a little better. I will encourage that we choose sustainable items sold by companies, which have a policy not to exploit, but to benefit others.
So if you don't need anything, please boycott Singles' Day and Black Friday. Do yourself a favor and save the money for something better, which you might need in the future.
