Hårdt job - Hard Work

Sidder her midt i støj fra byggepladsen udenfor.

I am sitting here in the noise from the construction site outside. Everything seems to go according to plan, but there has been some complaints about the noise and the mess. There is noise, but it cannot be any different, if we want a better place to live, and it is time limited, so I think, that is manageable.

And I am impressed! Impressed about how skilled these people are. I have seen a gigantic excavator put metal plates for driving in place. If they were just a bit out of line, the driver would put them in place with a tiny push, so the driveway were totally in line. Later he was digging approx. 20 cm deep also in a straight line, and then a bit deeper because they sort the soil, also in a straight line.

Right now they are cutting down the balconies. This means, that they are cutting the part hanging outside the building. Through armouring and concrete. It takes one man one hour 15 minutes standing bent over in a 90 degree angle to do this achievement. Because it is an achievement. They have worked in heavy snow and in icy cold. Only when we had strong wind, they stopped it, because they have to up with a lift.

These are the workers who, due to the new pension rules the government has dictated, cannot retire before they are 70 years old or maybe even older! But they will be worn out long before that!

I learn a lot by having this view right now. Many things are happening, which I have never thought about or known about. Sometimes when I meet one of the workers, I ask questions, because I have a lot of them, and I get wiser all the time.

It makes so much sense, when it is said, that we should not judge anybody's lives, before we have tried it ourselves. I admire these people. They do not have an easy job.
