Efter pausen... - After The Break...

After 10 days I am back. First I moved to the new flat, then I had a birthday (the number ended on '0!), and after that the smallest favorite person had pneumonia, so the favorite parents needed some extra arms. But I am back.

I will show you photos of my new flat, but it has to wait, because I am a bit excited about a clipping, I found during the move. It is from 2006 (some subjects never die), and it is written by Stephen Bayley, who are one of the big design critics. He wrote:

Design and travel have a common cause: dissatisfaction with our present possessions or our current location.

Does this mean, that trends and travel are a wish for constant renewal, and/or is it an escape from the everyday grind?

I don't know. I have never been much of a traveler, because I can easily find new inspiration just walking out my door. I don't need to travel the world. However I have for many years been totally obsessed with trends, colors and indoor decoration. The only reason for this I can think of is, that I during that period didn't have a lot of money, and therefore felt that I needed 'something else' all the time, which in itself is stupid, because when you haven't got money, you shouldn't spend the little you have on stuff, which has no real value. But I did, and maybe it was my escapism or my dissatisfaction?

Today I keep my things, until they fall apart. Is my escape over then?

Very appropriate talking about falling apart. During the move my bed fell apart, so now I have to go an invest in a new one.
